  • Single user single process, example:IBM PC-DOS & Apale Macintosh
  • Single user multi-processes, example:OS/2
  • Multi-users share data, example:Unix is the archetype of a timesharing FS
  • Multi-user physically dispersed in a network of autonomous computers share in the use of a common FS, example:Distributed FS
